Non-Discrimination Policy

September 28, 2021 — There are voices in the province of Manitoba that are calling for indoor faith gatherings to be required to refuse admission for attendees who are not fully vaccinated against Covid-19. We believe such a requirement would be antithetical to the heart of Christ’s Gospel which is to turn none away, and to love and respect each person in matters of conscience (Romans 14).

Solid Rock Church will not support a government order that would require us to alienate or discriminate against any individual. With love and compassion we will continue to welcome every person in accordance with our mandate from Jesus, who said; “Come to me, ALL you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” —Matt 11:28. A vaccination requirement for faith gatherings would also serve to create an “unclean leper” mentality within our community, rewarding fear and fostering division. Jesus himself didn’t fear touching the leper, because his trust was in God; neither should we fear the unvaccinated, nor turn them away.

Both those who are vaccinated and unvaccinated are welcome to attend in person at Solid Rock Church. We respect the freedom of choice of each individual, while having empathy for their circumstances and respect for their personal convictions. While as Christians we may not always agree in every area of life or doctrine, Christ calls us to demonstrate love, compassion, and understanding for each other (Col 3:12-17), and to let the peace of God rule at all times.

Ephesians 4:3 | Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.
