Solid Rock Statement
Tuesday, April 27, 2021 – Yesterday we were deeply disappointed to hear that the Manitoba government is implementing restrictions to faith gatherings in our province for the next four weeks. We believe that churches are where those who are hurting and without hope can gather and be strengthened spiritually and mentally by followers of Christ, who offer healing and hope!
The faith gathering restrictions the Manitoba government is implementing (25% of occupancy or 10 people, whichever is less) make it impossible for almost every church in Manitoba to gather for the next four weeks. At a time when people need the vital encouragement and strength that comes from gathering with other Christians, churches are again being shut down. This doesn’t only affect the spiritual and mental health of local congregations, but also greatly restricts the ability of churches to provide support and services to the broader communities they serve.
We firmly believe these restrictions on faith gatherings in Manitoba are an overreach that violates that Canadian Chart of Rights & Freedoms, and are ultimately self-destructive in that they restrict the actions of those who can offer the greatest hope and healing in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. Solid Rock Church will abide by these gathering restrictions for the next four Sundays, but we posses firm resolve that the health order restrictions on faith gatherings must be significantly lessened at that time, allowing churches to gather and worship in freedom once again.
